SHARE THE JOURNEY CAMPAIGN

Caritas means love
without borders

Caritas responds to Pope Francis’ direct call to build a culture of encounter. It focuses on building stronger relationships between people and, therefore, on stronger and more peaceful communities.

A source of inspiration for Caritas, Pope Francis is the catalyst that has led us to take concrete action and open up spaces for migrants and local communities to meet and talk to each other. Caritas creates opportunities for communities to come together with migrants and refugees, share their journeys and experiences, and speak together locally, nationally and internationally.

As an international confederation of 165 national member organizations, Caritas supports the poor and marginalized in their journey of life with love, compassion and solidarity.

Why we’re running the campaign.

Pope Francis says that we are all on “a itinerant path to the celestial kingdom,” and urges us to welcome in our hearts those “four verbs” that frame his vision of justice and compassion: welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating.

Just as Caritas gives hope and dignity, its organizations are reaching out to migrants and refugees with practical help. We advocate for their care and protection and for human rights to be respected.

Caritas believes that participation in community-level action will change hearts and minds. In his Easter message of 2017, Cardinal Luis Tagle, President of Caritas Internationalis said: “Meeting migrants in all the difficulties they are going through and listening to their hopes and dreams made me wonder what really was important to me. ยป

The current situation of migrants and refugees is an opportunity for all of us, individuals, communities and nations, to reconsider our priorities, our values and our vision of the world we want to build for future generations.
